Where it is
The Bioparco di Roma (Rome's zoo) sits inside Villa Borghese, in the northern part of the park (entrance from Piazzale del Giardino Zoologico), near the Parioli district and the Pincio. It's a green, quiet spot, yet well connected to the center by tram and bus.
By tram
The easiest option is the tram: lines 3 and 19 stop close to Villa Borghese (the Bioparco area), linking the park with San Lorenzo, Trastevere, and the eastern neighborhoods. From the stop, the Bioparco entrance is a short walk away.
By bus and metro
The area is served by several bus lines. The nearest metro stop is usually Flaminio (Linea A, Piazza del Popolo/Pincio side) or Spagna (Linea A, where you climb up to the Pincio and cross Villa Borghese on foot).

On foot from Villa Borghese and the Pincio
You can reach the Bioparco on foot by crossing Villa Borghese: a lovely walk from the Pincio (above Piazza del Popolo) or from the Spagna entrance. It's a pleasant way to pair the park with the zoo, though it can be a long haul with small children.
By car and private driver (NCC)
The area has parking nearby (some of it paid), but spaces fill up on weekends. A private driver (NCC) makes the visit far easier, especially with kids: they drop you at the Bioparco entrance and pick you up at the agreed time, sparing you long walks and parking headaches. Ideal for adding the Galleria Borghese or the Pincio.
Suggested itinerary
The Bioparco pairs well with:
- A stroll through Villa Borghese (the lake, the tree-lined avenues).
- The Galleria Borghese (by reservation).
- The Pincio and its terrace over Piazza del Popolo.
- A family day out in the green.
