Its position in the historic centre

Piazza Navona is in the heart of the Parione rione, a few minutes' walk from some of Rome's most important destinations. It is not reachable by metro, but fits perfectly into a walking itinerary that can cover the Pantheon, Campo de' Fiori and the Navona neighbourhood in a single morning.

What to see in the Parione neighbourhood

The neighbourhood around Navona is one of Rome's most authentic, with artisan workshops, antique dealers and trattorias that resist tourist pressure. Via del Governo Vecchio, Via della Pace and Via dell'Orso preserve corners of Rome that are less photographed.

Frequently asked questions

Can Piazza Navona be combined with the Vatican in a single day? Not ideally. The Vatican requires at least 3–4 hours, Navona at least 1–2. It can be done in one day but will be intensive. Better to spread over two days.

How do you walk from the Trevi Fountain to Piazza Navona? Approximately 18 minutes on foot via Via dei Coronari or Corso del Rinascimento. The route is evocative and passes through some of the most beautiful alleys in the centre.

Is there a bar for breakfast near Navona without tourist prices? Yes: move one block away from the square. On Via del Governo Vecchio and Via della Pace there are local bars at normal prices.
