Where Villa Torlonia Is
Villa Torlonia sits on Via Nomentana, in the Nomentano-Trieste district, northeast of Rome's historic center. It is slightly off the classic tourist trail, yet easy to reach by public transport or by car, in an elegant and quiet part of the city.
By metro + on foot
The closest metro stops are:
- Policlinico (Line B) — about a 12-15 minute walk.
- Bologna (Line B) — about a 15 minute walk.
From either one you can reach the villa on foot, or carry on by bus along Via Nomentana.
By bus
The most direct option is the bus: several lines run along Via Nomentana and stop right in front of Villa Torlonia's entrances. It is often the easiest choice from the center.
On foot and by bike
From the Porta Pia area and Via Nomentana, the villa makes for a pleasant walk. The neighborhood is quiet and well suited to getting around by bike, too.

By car and the ZTL
Villa Torlonia lies outside the historic center's ZTL, but parking around Via Nomentana is still limited and partly paid. With a private driver (NCC) the problem simply disappears: he drops you at the entrance and handles transfers and waiting times, which is especially convenient if you want to pair the villa with other stops or an airport transfer.
Suggested itinerary
Villa Torlonia pairs nicely with:
- A stroll along the elegant Via Nomentana all the way to Porta Pia.
- The Coppedè quarter, a short distance away, with its fairy-tale architecture.
- The city center, easily reached with a quick transfer.
A private driver makes the route through this less touristy area effortless.
